On Friday, March 20th from 1-5pm, YouthBuild Charter School of California will be hosting Dr. Ken Ginsburg for a four-hour workshop on Fostering Resilience. The event will take place at the South Tent of LA Trade Tech College.
Dr. Ginsburg is a pediatrician specializing in Adolescent Medicine at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.
He also serves Philadelphia’s homeless youth as Director of Health Services at Covenant House Pennsylvania. The theme that ties together his clinical practice, teaching, research and advocacy efforts is that of building on the strength of teenagers by fostering their internal resilience. His goal is to translate the best of what is known from research and practice into practical approaches parents, professionals and communities can use to prepare children and teens to thrive.
He has worked extensively with the YouthBuild Philadelphia program and recently fired up the YouthBuild network with a keynote address at the National Directors' Association meeting in Washington, DC that raised everyone's awareness about this critical aspect of youth development. Dr. Ginsburg will be in Los Angeles on Friday, March 20th and has agreed to provide YouthBuild staff with a four hour workshop on childhood trauma and what we need to know about how it impacts our work. All YouthBuild program staff, school staff, and other partners are invited to attend this important event.
