Our Annual "Safe Pass to Graduation" Golf Tournament raises money for us to purchase Metro TAP cards and bus passes for students who otherwise couldn't afford them and need a safe and reliable way to get to school. Last year we raised enough to provide each of our 19 sites with a $500 budget to buy public transit passes as needed. However, in order to best provide for the transportation needs of our students, we will need to raise even more money at this year's event. Our current goal is to raise at least $25,000, which would allow us to purchase over 1,000 monthly reduced-fare Student Metro Passes.
This year's Tournament will take place on Friday, April 24th, 2015 at 1pm (with lunch and registration beginning at 11:30am). The tournament will be followed by a Cocktail Hour at 5:30 and our Annual Staff Appreciation Banquet at 6:30pm. Golfers are invited to stay for the dinner (at an additional cost.) We will also be hosting a Silent Auction throughout the day, with winners announced that evening. The format of the tournament will once again be a four-person scramble, where each golfer plays off the best ball in their foursome. Although we do have some pretty serious golfers, many attendees are first-time golfers or only golf occasionally. Mostly, our event is a time to have fun with friends while fundraising for a good cause!
YouthBuild Charter School of California teachers and staff members can golf at the discounted rate of $75 per person. Our Superintendent Terry McAteer has graciously offered to split that cost, so for a limited time, the cost for a YCSC teacher or staff member is only $37.50!
